Changeover days are the ones to plan around here. Concorde sits in the middle of the run, gates every couple of hundred metres in both directions, and on a changeover morning all of them empty at once: coaches nosing in for the arriving groups, cars coming out with the departing ones, everything on a single boulevard with no way round it. The seventeen kilometres do not change. What changes is the first of them, and between a departure at half past eight and one at ten there can be a quarter of an hour of difference on that stretch alone.

Once past the last barrier the road is simple — up from the coast onto the fast dual carriageway that brought you in — but it finishes differently from the way it started. Arriving, the car came down to the kerb outside the arrivals hall; leaving, it sets you down on the departures level above it, and the walk from that kerb to the desks is longer than people expect with a loaded trolley. In the evening the same distance runs clear and the whole thing is over in the twenty-five minutes the map promises.

• Settle the pickup time with us the day before rather than on the morning itself: a mid-strip address has gates on both sides to get past first.
• The fare is fixed per vehicle when you book, so a stop on the way to the airport is something to agree beforehand and not to raise in the car.
• If the party is leaving on two flights hours apart, two pickups usually beat everyone sitting in the terminal for an afternoon.
