Coming in, the fast part of the journey came first and the slow part last. Going out, the order reverses, and that is what catches people at this end of the Lara stretch. The car starts at your barrier and spends its first kilometres passing the entrances of every hotel between here and Lara, where coaches stop without warning and other cars pull out of driveways. Only after that does it reach the road that does the real work. Time a departure from this gate by treating the boulevard as a stage of its own, with the eighteen kilometres coming afterwards.

In high summer the outward run is at its easiest before seven in the morning and again after eight in the evening. In between, the junction where the strip meets the main road east of the city takes everything that Lara and Kundu are sending to the airport in the same hours, and that is the one point where the return leg can lose time. The end of the drive differs too: instead of the arrivals kerb you used on the way in, the car climbs to the departures level and stops where traffic is moving behind it.

• Saturn Palace stands immediately alongside and two more Royal-branded houses are a kilometre west, so put Royal Seginus on the return booking as carefully as you did on the arrival.
• Eighteen kilometres and twenty-five minutes describe the road, not the morning — the time inside the grounds and along the strip comes on top of them.
• Give a clock time for the pickup rather than "after breakfast": the driver is scheduled around the hour you name.
