Leaving a city hotel means leaving on city time. The drive starts with the drive out of Arapsuyu to the D400 and then the long eastward crossing of Antalya, and it is that crossing, not the coast, that decides the clock. Early in the morning the 22 km take about 25 minutes; in the weekday rush, morning and late afternoon, the junctions along the main road can add a good deal to that. Set the pickup by the hour of the day as well as by the flight, and say at booking if you are travelling at commuter time.

Because the entrance is on an ordinary street rather than a resort forecourt, the car does not idle at the kerb: it arrives at the agreed time, the cases go in and it leaves. Have the luggage in the lobby a few minutes before the pickup. If a stay in the city has added bags from the bazaars, give the new count when you confirm, so that the right size of car is sent. For an evening flight, ask reception the day before whether a later checkout or a place to leave the cases is possible.

• Rush hour on the D400 is the one real variable on this run; the earlier the slot, the closer the drive stays to its 25 minutes.
