If you go, settle the room first, keep the pickup time in your pocket and be back at the entrance ahead of it rather than on it. The driver arrives at the hour agreed; at the gatehouse the car is checked in a minute or two before you actually see it at the door.

The drive itself is the arrival in reverse: the resort boulevard first, then the Kundu road north across open farmland, then the airport. What differs is the end of it. Departures are handled in more than one terminal building here and domestic flights do not leave from the same one as international flights, so the booking needs the flight number rather than simply the word airport. Seventeen kilometres pass quickly at any hour of the day; the approach roads at the terminals, in the middle of a summer morning, are another matter.

• If you walk to the mall on the last morning, take the pickup time with you — there is no short cut back along the boulevard to the gate.
• Ask for the car at the main entrance: with shops and a mall a few minutes away there is more than one way out of the grounds, and only one of them is where the driver waits.
