Departure is simpler than arrival: from the gate the car is already on the northbound carriageway, and some six hundred metres later it rejoins the D400 at the top of town, with no turning back through the central reservation. From there the road climbs to the tunnels, drops to the Konyaaltı shore and swings round the city to the terminal. Across the 59 km the 55 minutes hold well in the early morning; a hot afternoon in August, when traffic builds on the city ring, is the time to add a margin.

Because the boulevard is divided, ask for the pickup at the hotel's own entrance on the seaward side; a car waiting on the inland carriageway would be pointing south, away from the D400. And since a Rose-named neighbour stands just across the boulevard, mention both the name and the number 44 when you confirm the departure time, so that a car sent at five in the morning stops at the right door.

• Plan the pickup hour backwards from take-off: about an hour on the road, then the check-in window your airline sets, with extra margin in high summer.
• If the last evening is spent at the marina, the hotel entrance is still the simplest pickup point next morning, since the car reaches the D400 about 600 metres from the gate.
• Give your flight number on the return booking as well, so the pickup hour can be checked against the departure time well before the day.
