The departure starts in town rather than on a hotel drive: 147 Sokak, then Atatürk Bulvarı north through Kemer to the junction with the D400. Before dawn that takes a few minutes; late on a summer morning, with delivery vans and buses at their stops, it takes noticeably longer. From the junction the road runs north past Göynük and Beldibi, through the tunnels and into Antalya, 61 km in all and about 55 minutes, with Konyaaltı and the ring road as the stretch most likely to slow down on weekday mornings.

An adults-only town hotel sends its guests home on late flights as often as early ones, and on those days the question is what to do between checking out and the pickup. The marina and the centre are a walk away, so if reception can keep the cases, the afternoon can be spent in Kemer and the car met at the hotel at the agreed hour. Fix that hour when you arrange the transfer and give the flight number, so that a change in the schedule can be followed.

• Count back from the flight: about 55 minutes of road, the time your airline wants you at the terminal, and a little extra if you leave Kemer between seven and nine on a weekday.
• If you would rather be collected at the marina after a last walk, name it as the pickup point when you book; otherwise the driver will be waiting at the hotel.
• Shopping in Kemer adds up over a week; tell us if the luggage count has grown since arrival so the car still has room for everything.
