Seen from the departure side, Beldibi's position is the useful one: it is the Kemer village closest to Antalya, so the car never has to work its way back past Göynük or the town. It pulls out of Başkomutan Atatürk Caddesi, climbs back to the coast highway and heads north-east past Konyaaltı to the ring road and the terminals. At night the whole run takes about the 45 minutes quoted for the 45 km; in the afternoon the approach to Antalya along Konyaaltı can be slow, and that is where any delay builds.

The second-line layout shapes the last morning more than the road does. If you go down for a final swim, the walk back takes in the road crossing and the short walk up to the hotel, and wet towels and sandy feet have to be dealt with before the bags go in the car. Keep that walk out of the last half hour: pack first, hand the cases in at reception, and let the swim end well before the pickup time agreed at booking.

• Plan the pickup from your flight time backwards: 45 minutes for the road, plus the check-in margin your airline asks for, plus a little for the Konyaaltı stretch in the afternoon.
• Have the cases waiting at reception rather than on the beach side of the road, so the driver can load them on the street in front of the hotel.
• A late-evening flight on a hot day is easier with a room or a shower arranged with reception for the afternoon, since the drive itself is short.
