Checkout falls around midday and a great many flights out of Antalya leave in the evening, which puts a gap of five or six hours in the last day. Kemer's marina and bazaar streets are a few kilometres down the road rather than just outside the gate, so an afternoon in town means a short ride there and back while the cases wait at the hotel. Ask at the desk that morning what happens to luggage after checkout, and set the pickup for the end of the afternoon rather than the middle of it.

Leaving is simpler here than from the hotels in the town itself. From the gate a local road leads back to the D400 in well under a kilometre, and the car joins the highway heading north without touching Kemer's main avenue, which is where the town's own traffic gathers on a summer evening. After that the fifty minutes run in a familiar order: Göynük and Beldibi, the tunnel section above the sea, Konyaaltı, the city ring, and finally the airport approach, where whatever margin you built for yourself is spent.

• Book the pickup at the gatehouse rather than in town: Kemer's centre is a few kilometres south, away from the airport, and a party waiting there is not where the driver has been sent.
• If you spend the afternoon in town after checkout, keep the passports and the boarding passes on you rather than in a bag left behind at the hotel.
• The price is agreed per vehicle, so anyone else leaving on your flight from the same gate costs nothing extra as long as the seats and the boot are there.
