Because the grounds reach from Atatürk Caddesi all the way to the shore, the car waits at the top of the site while the beach is at the bottom, a few hundred metres apart. Rooms close to the sea are therefore the long walk from the vehicle, and with a family's suitcases on the last morning that walk deserves its own few minutes in the plan. Ask at reception the evening before whether the luggage can be brought up to the entrance, and be at the gate, not on a terrace by the water, at the time you booked.

Back on the D400, the 47 km to the terminal run north-east along the cliffs to Konyaaltı and then round the ring road, and on a clear road the 45 minutes stand. What eats into a margin is the urban end: on weekday mornings the ring road fills with the city's own traffic heading out to work, and that stretch, rather than the cliffs, turns a comfortable check-in into a hurried one. In the dark, remember that Champion and Siu Collection on either side also have lit entrances, so wait at the Baia Salima gate itself.

• If the pier tempts you into a last swim, leave time to shower and change: the road to the airport is short, the queue at the check-in desk is not.
• An evening departure frees the last afternoon for the old town instead of the sunbed: Kaleiçi lies roughly on the way to the terminal, so one car can drop you there with the cases and a second can take you on to the airport.
• Flight moved? Send the new time as soon as the airline sends it to you, because the pickup hour is worked out from the flight and the driver sets off for Beldibi well before it.
