On the way out, the car collects you at the street entrance and the route is the first choice the driver makes: east along the old Lara road to Güzeloba and up to the terminal, or north through the inland avenues. Both are city streets for most of their length. Early in the morning either one covers the 18 km in about 25 minutes; on a weekday, with school runs and buses on the Lara road, the same drive takes noticeably longer, and a pickup in the late afternoon should carry a margin for it.

Have the cases in the lobby before the car is due, because the street in front is busy and the driver cannot idle there for long. If the flight leaves late in the day, the city is the obvious way to use the gap: ask the hotel the day before to keep the bags after checkout, spend the afternoon in Kaleiçi or by the water, and let the transfer collect you back at the hotel at the hour you set. Leave yourself a few spare minutes to get back through the evening traffic before that pickup.
