Leaving Perre La Mer, the car comes back up from the hotel quarter to the D400, turns north and soon reaches Beldibi and the tunnels cut into the cliffs. Counted from the entrance, the 53 km to the terminal take about 50 minutes, and the first few minutes go on the hotel-quarter street before the highway is reached. Tour coaches making the round of the hotels along this street on departure mornings stop at one gate after another; a private car just goes.

With the beach right in front of the rooms, the last morning tends to drift towards one more swim. That is fine as long as the cases are closed first. Agree the pickup time when you book, settle the bill at reception the evening before, and keep a plastic bag for wet swimwear in the top of the bag. If the flight is late in the day, ask whether luggage can be stored after check-out so the last hours can still be spent by the sea.

• Work the time out backwards: 50 minutes of driving, the check-in your airline asks for, and a little extra for the Konyaaltı stretch in the afternoon.
• A pebble beach is hard on bare feet; pack water shoes on top so they do not get buried in the case on the departure day.
• Children's seats requested on arrival should be requested again for the return, so they are fitted before the car pulls up.
