On the way out, the car comes down the side street to the gate at the hour agreed when you booked, so fix that hour with the hotel's own day in mind and not the flight alone. An evening flight leaves an afternoon between check-out and the car, which is easier if you have asked the hotel early about keeping the room or leaving the bags; a flight at dawn means settling the bill the night before. Either way, give us the time you want to be standing at the gate with your luggage, not the time you mean to leave the room.

From the gate the car simply reverses the arrival: up the side street, west along Mehmet Akif Caddesi and Alparslan Caddesi, then north on the long road through the fields to Serik, where it turns onto the D400 westbound. The airport exit comes before Antalya itself, so the city's traffic never enters the journey; what can, from late morning on changeover days, is the airport traffic of the Belek hotels joining at the Kadriye and Belek junctions. Through the night the whole route is empty, and the 45 minutes becomes a generous allowance rather than a tight one.

• Ask for the car at the hotel gate rather than out on Mehmet Akif Caddesi: loading cases on the side street is calmer than on the shopping street.
• If the outlet centre on Mehmet Akif Caddesi has added to your luggage, say so when you book the return, because the vehicle is chosen from the bag count.
• If the airline retimes your departure, send us the new time straight away; the pickup hour is built on it, and nothing moves it automatically.
