Being the last gate on the road works against you on the way out. All the other gates on this stretch lie between Cullinan and Çamlık Caddesi, and on the mornings when the resorts change guests over, coaches stand at them while luggage goes into their holds. A car can be held behind one for a minute or two before it has gone half a kilometre. Beyond that the route unwinds the arrival: north between the courses, past the theme park, up through Kadriye and onto the D400 for the run west past Aksu.

The season changes the sum more than the distance does. From April to the end of October the hotel runs its summer programme, the coast is full and Antalya's terminals are at their busiest, so the margin before check-in closes needs to be generous. In the winter months the shore road is quieter and the airport calmer, yet the drive still takes the same 35 minutes and the check-in deadline does not move. Count back from that deadline, add the road, and then add the time it takes to bring every bag from the room to the gate.

• On a summer changeover morning set the pickup a little earlier than the sum suggests, since the coaches loading along the shore road all stand between you and the way out.
• If you are playing a last round before the flight, leave time to change and pack the clubs before the car comes; with the course next door it is tempting to cut it fine.
• No through traffic passes this gate, so there is nothing to hail on the day; book the return before your last evening rather than on the morning itself.
