Evrenseki to Side private transfer

Evrenseki is an inland village, and the hotels that carry its name stand apart from it, down on the shore, with nothing older than the swimming pools in sight. Side is where many of their guests wanted to be in the first place: the theatre, the museum inside the old Roman baths, the colonnaded street and, at the tip of the peninsula, the columns of the Temple of Apollo over the harbour. People make the trip at two times of day. Some leave early to walk the ruins before the stone heats up; others come for dinner and stay until the harbour tables empty. The public minibuses keep a timetable of their own, which suits a couple travelling light better than a family carrying a sleeping child home late.

The 13 km take about 20 minutes. From the hotel gate the car follows the road behind the beach eastwards into Kumköy, where one hotel strip turns into the next without a gap, and Kumköy in turn runs straight into the northern edge of Side. The old town is closed to vehicles, so the drop is at the car park next to the bus station at its entrance; from there you walk in past the museum and the theatre, and the harbour lies further on, down the main street. The leg that needs planning is the one home: after dinner the car waits at that same car park at the hour you agreed, because no driver can come down to a harbour table looking for you.

• If you want the ride back as well, arrange the return pickup or any waiting time when you book, and fix the hour before you sit down to eat.
• Give the hotel's name rather than just "Evrenseki": the village and its beach hotels are some distance apart, and the driver needs the gate, not the mosque.
• For the ruins go early in the day, since the theatre, the agora and the street between them have very little shade once the sun is up.
• Make the meeting point the car park where you were dropped, which you will recognise in the dark, rather than a restaurant by the water.
