Türkler sits between Konaklı and Avsallar, and most of the people it draws from Gazipaşa–Alanya Airport are on summer charter seats: the flight comes into GZP, the hotel turns out to be 60 km west of it, and the transfer is what joins the two. What you get at the end of it is a quiet hotel shore — pools, beach clubs, a line of blocks facing the water — with an older farming village on the slope behind, mosque, tea house and greenhouses climbing the hill. The two halves feel like different decades.

Fifty-five minutes is the figure for the 60 km, and what varies at the end of it is not the road but the last turning. The D400 runs as a divided highway along this whole frontage, so the hotel gates on the seaward side and the lanes climbing to the village are reached from different points; a car on the wrong carriageway has to run on to the next turning and come back. That is also why the two halves of Türkler feel further apart than they are — the shore is all gates and gardens, the slope above is where the shops are, and the walk between them takes about five minutes.

• Say whether your address is on the sea side of the D400 or up in the village, because the two are reached from different turnings.
• The seaward gates open straight onto a fast divided highway, so on the way home wait inside the gate and let the car come to you rather than standing out on the road.
• Pickups from the village side start on narrow lanes with cars parked along them, so agree a corner the driver can wait on rather than having him back down to your door.
