Avsallar is a town before it is a resort — a main street of bakeries, pharmacies and pide ovens that keeps trading long after the beach clubs shut — and it draws the kind of guest who books a month rather than a week. Those long stays are why the GZP leg exists here: a summer charter seat into Gazipaşa–Alanya Airport is often the flight that fits, and the apartment is 75 km west of it. Coming in from this side, Avsallar arrives after Türkler and İncekum, at the far end of the Alanya strip rather than the near one.

The 75 km take about 65 minutes, and the landscape does most of the changing along the way. West of Alanya the coastal plain narrows, the Taurus foothills press down almost to the water and the highway begins to rise and fall in long curves — the only stretch on this side of the airport that does. Avsallar arrives at the top of one of them, and the first thing you see of it is not a hotel gate but the main street set back above the sea, with the beach a couple of kilometres below it.

• İncekum's pine-backed bays are a few kilometres east of the Avsallar town centre, so if your hotel is in that stretch, give its name rather than the town's.
• Renting for the season? A building name plus the phone number of whoever holds the keys is worth more here than a street address.
• Ask for a child seat when you book, because this is over an hour in the car and not a leg to improvise.
• The road west of Alanya climbs and drops in long curves for the last stretch, so anyone who travels badly should say so when booking and take the front seat.
