İncekum is a beach and a pine park that several hotels along this shore share as an address, and it makes one of the longer runs out of Gazipaşa–Alanya Airport: 70 km, almost all of it past Alanya. The people making it are usually families. Soft sand, water that stays shallow a long way out and shade from the umbrella pines are worth a seat on a summer charter into GZP even when the bed at the end of it is an hour and more to the west. Nothing here is walkable to anything else, so the car matters.

Sixty-five minutes covers the 70 km, and only the last two ask anything of you. West of the built-up strip the umbrella pines begin and the hotels stand back inside them, their gates set well off the highway and screened by trees. The drive itself is one continuous coast road with no natural break in it — no service area, no obvious halfway point — which matters more than the distance does when you are arriving with children who have already sat still for a whole flight.

• İncekum is a beach name used by properties several kilometres apart, so book with the hotel's full name and the car turns off at the right gate.
• The entrances sit back under the pines and are easy to pass at speed; for a villa in the forest behind them, a location pin beats an address after dark.
• Two or three families travelling together is normal here, so give the real passenger count and nobody ends up split between cars at the kerb.
• Ask for a short stop when you book if you are travelling with small children; it is easier to plan one than to find one on the way.
