Konaklı is the first of the western resorts once Alanya ends, and people who land at Gazipaşa–Alanya Airport for it are usually here on a charter seat that happened to come with a hotel on this side of town. The strip is long-stay territory: apartment blocks whose balconies fill up for whole seasons, a weekly market, a seafront that empties by eleven and a beach broad enough that nobody fights for a place on it. Alanya's noise is fifteen minutes away and stays there, which is the entire point of choosing Konaklı.

The GZP terminal sits on a shelf of flat ground above the sea, and the drive begins by coming off it onto the D400. From there it is one road west: Demirtaş, Mahmutlar, Kestel, then Alanya itself, where the highway carries local traffic, traffic lights and the castle headland above it. That stretch through town is the variable — 55 km to Konaklı normally runs about 50 minutes, and almost all of the difference between a good run and a slow one is made in Alanya. On a summer evening allow more; after a night landing the road is empty.

• Konaklı is the nearest of the western resorts to Alanya and dolmuş minibuses run the D400 between the two, so the private car is really only needed at each end of the holiday.
• Konaklı runs several kilometres along the highway, so say whether you are at the Alanya end or the Türkler end; coming from the east the Alanya end comes first.
• Apartment buildings often have no night desk, so arrange key collection before you fly if you are landing late.
