Fethiye to Kaş private transfer

Three sorts of people book this direction. The first flew into Dalaman, slept the first night in Fethiye and is going on to where the holiday actually is: Kaş, a diving and yachting town in a hollow of hills with a Hellenistic theatre above its harbour. The second is staying in Fethiye and wants a day of what Kaş has — the dive boats, the crossing to the Greek island of Meis, an evening in lanes that hold more tables than a hotel terrace. The third is moving house mid-holiday, the gulet harbour swapped for somewhere smaller, cases in the boot by ten in the morning.

South-east, 110 km, an hour and thirty-five minutes, and in this direction the climbing comes later. The D400 leaves Fethiye across the flat Eşen plain among the greenhouses, then the Patara turn-off and the ruins of Xanthos announce the start of the long pull up onto the Bezirgan plateau. From the top it is a descent, with the Kalkan turning part way down it, and the finish is a set of bends into the bowl that holds Kaş: the town appears below you rather than ahead of you. Nothing on this road is quick, and the last twenty minutes are the slowest by design.

• The harbour lanes in Kaş are narrow and the quay is long, so a hotel name gets the car closer than the word harbour does.
• If your room is out on the Çukurbağ peninsula, that is a ridge road west of the town and a different end to the journey — put it in the booking.
• Anything booked for the same day, a dive, a boat or a table, wants more than the hour and a half: this road gives nothing back once time is lost.
• The descent into Kaş is the steepest part of the drive, so the stop worth asking for is up on the plateau before it rather than at the bottom.
