After a few evenings of buffet dinners and the hotel's own entertainment, a night beyond the resort gate starts to look appealing, and TerraCity is one of the simpler ways to have one. It is a large shopping centre in Fener, a district of Antalya on the city side of the Lara hotel strip, with a cinema, shops and places to eat under one roof. Unlike the centres out by the airport, it stands inside the city itself, among apartment blocks and ordinary streets, so an evening here feels like going into town rather than using one more facility of the resort. The plan more or less writes itself: some browsing, a film, something to eat, and a car back to the hotel gate once the credits have rolled.

The drive is 30 km, about 35 minutes, and the shortest way keeps to the coast instead of turning inland for the D400. From Belek the car heads west through Kadriye, passes Kundu and its big resorts, then follows the Lara shore into Güzeloba. This district lies on the line of Antalya Airport's runways, and aircraft often pass low over the road, landing or just after take-off. Further on, the boulevard runs a few hundred metres inland of the park where the lower Düden Waterfall drops off the cliffs into the sea, and soon you are set down outside TerraCity in Fener. The booking covers the drive out only, at a fixed price per vehicle; a timed return pickup, or a driver who waits, can be added too.

• Cinema listings in Turkey mark each showing of a foreign film as altyazılı, the original soundtrack with Turkish subtitles, or dublaj, dubbed into Turkish, so check for that word before you buy tickets.
• Work out the return pickup from the time the film ends rather than when it starts, add the meal if you are eating afterwards, and name the entrance you will come out of.
• If you would like to see the lower Düden Waterfall on the way, set off while it is still light and mention it when booking, so a short stop and the waiting time are planned before the car continues to Fener.
• Children who begin the film wide awake are often asleep before the car has left the city, so if you are travelling with little ones, ask for child seats when you book.
