A departure before dawn is fast and calm; one at five in the afternoon can take noticeably longer, so the spare time belongs on the city side of the trip rather than at the terminal.

Lara Caddesi is a main road, and a car cannot stand long at the kerb outside the hotel. Be in the lobby with your bags at the agreed hour, and if the hotel prefers cars to use a side entrance, mention it when you book. Antalya Airport has separate international and domestic terminals, so put the flight number on the booking and the driver will set you down in front of the right building rather than the nearest one.

• With a late flight and a midday checkout, you can book the pickup for the evening and spend the afternoon in Kaleiçi, as long as you are back at the hotel for the agreed time.
