Çolaklı is a working village with a resort strip attached: greenhouses and citrus gardens behind it, a long straight beach road in front, and a weekly market that still fills the side streets. The hotels are built around families, the sand is wide, and the sea takes a long way to get deep. The village sits at the eastern end of the Side coast: the strip begins where the Manavgat river reaches the sea and runs east from there, so the ruins are across the water and anything the strip does not sell is bought in Manavgat.

The leg is 102 km and about 85 minutes, and its shape is simple: highway almost the whole way, then a short descent to the shore. Coming from the east the turning leaves the D400 before Manavgat, so the town is never crossed; the car meets the beach road at its eastern end and works westwards past the hotels towards the river. Halfway along, the view changes — cliffs and open sea at first, then flat farmland, greenhouse plastic and cotton once the road pulls away from the coast.

• For the flight home the slow part is not the highway but the beach road itself on a changeover morning, so set the pick-up earlier than 102 km would suggest.
• An hour and a half in an adult belt is a long stretch for a small child, so give the ages when you book and the right seats travel with the car.
• Coming from Gazipaşa you enter Çolaklı at its eastern end, so a hotel down by the river is the last stop rather than the first if the car is shared.
• Give the number of cases as well as the number of passengers: this strip takes a lot of two-week family stays, and the boot fills up before the seats do.
