Gazipaşa Airport to Kızılot transfer

Kızılot is a line rather than a town: several kilometres of large seafront hotels between Side and Alanya, each with its own beach, pools and gardens, and behind them only the highway and flat farmland. There is no old centre to wander into and no promenade joining one property to the next. What the place sells is the strip of sand in front of the hotel, and most guests spend the week on it. Çenger and Kızılağaç lie immediately east, Denizyaka and then Manavgat to the west.

The 90 km work out at about 80 minutes. West of Okurcalar the D400 becomes a dual carriageway with a solid barrier down the middle, and it stays that way for the whole length of Kızılot. Because you approach from the east, the sea — and with it almost every hotel entrance — is on the far side of that barrier: the driver passes the gate, continues to the next turning point and comes back. That is ordinary practice on this road rather than a missed exit, and it costs a couple of minutes, not a detour.

• The strip runs for several kilometres and the hotels look much alike from the road, so the exact property name matters here more than the resort name.
• There is nothing on the inland side of the highway worth crossing for, and pedestrian crossings along the strip are few, so plan excursions as rides rather than walks.
• In high season the same carriageway carries the resort coach traffic, so an afternoon arrival runs slower than a night one does.
• On the way back the sea is on the driver's right and your gate is on his side of the road, so the pick-up is quicker and simpler than the drop-off was.
