Going home, Çağlayan's great advantage is how near it is to the terminals: 16 km and around 20 minutes, with no resort strip to crawl along and no coast road through Belek or Kundu to clear first. The car collects you at the door on 2048 Sokak, threads back up through the side streets to the boulevards and heads north-east to the airport. On a quiet morning that leaves time in hand, and a later pickup than guests further along the coast would book is reasonable here.

What can upset the timing is the city around it. Çağlayan sits inside Antalya's urban traffic, and the boulevards between Lara and the airport slow down in the weekday morning rush and again in the early evening, when the 20 minutes can stretch noticeably. A narrow residential street also leaves little room for a car to stand, so be at the entrance with the luggage when the pickup time comes, and tell us the evening before if the bag count has changed.

• On a late flight, TerraCity, a kilometre away, is a place to spend the hours after check-out; keep the pickup at the hotel and collect the cases there first.
• Keep your phone switched on at pickup time, so the driver can call if the last turn among the numbered streets needs confirming in the dark.
• When the pickup falls in the morning rush, move it earlier rather than later: ten or fifteen spare minutes cost little on such a short ride.
