On the way out the car turns left from the gate and heads back along the resort road towards Belek, then west through Kadriye and up to the D400. Before about seven the resort road is quiet; later in the morning it fills with transfer coaches pulling in and out of the gates on both sides, and the first few kilometres are the ones that vary. After that it is dual carriageway west past Aksu to the terminal, and the 37 km usually takes about 40 minutes in all.

Pine Beach's grounds stretch through the woods towards the shore, so from some rooms it is a fair walk to the lobby. Settle the bill and hand in the room cards before the pickup time rather than after it, because the agreed hour is when the car arrives at the main entrance, not when it sets off. For groups leaving after a congress, a single car per flight, each with its own lead passenger, is easier to coordinate than one vehicle making several rounds.

• A pre-dawn flight is the easy case here, because the resort road is at its emptiest then; the margin you build in belongs at the terminal queues rather than on the drive.
• Treatments booked at the spa on the last morning tend to overrun; leave a clear margin before the pickup instead of asking the driver to wait.
• Flight times change more often than people expect in shoulder season, so forward any airline message the moment it arrives and the pickup is reset to match.
