Departure morning here involves more walking than people expect. The beach lies over the bridge on the far side of the stream, a villa or a room can be a fair distance from reception, and the cases have to make that journey before they make any other. So read the time on the booking as the moment the car draws up at the entrance, not the moment you start packing, and fix it by counting back from the hour the airline closes its desk: a margin for the terminal, then the 40 minutes of road, then the walk through the grounds.

Because the resort stays open through the winter, a departure can fall in any season, and the road out feels different in each. In August the run back to Belek passes a full line of hotels and the airport is at its busiest; in January it is dark early in the evening, rain arrives in heavy bursts and the terminals are far quieter. The route itself does not change: the lane between the fairways, the road west into Belek, Turizm Caddesi to Kadriye and the D400 past Aksu. The 40 minutes covers it; the margin is the part that depends on the month.

• Ask reception the evening before how the cases get from a villa to the entrance, and set the pickup around what they tell you.
• Between November and March keep a jacket out of the suitcase: the walk from the door to the car is short, but winter rain here comes down hard.
• Be at the entrance with the cases when the car is due, since the driver works to the hour you agreed and a search through grounds this size eats into it.
