Leaving Kadriye for the airport is quick: from the village the car reaches the D400 junction within a few minutes, turns west, and the 27 km take about 30 minutes on a clear road. That short distance is the thing to plan around, because it is easy to leave too late from somewhere this close. In high season the check-in and security queues at the terminal can take longer than the drive itself, so let them, not the road, set the pickup hour you agree at booking.

Evenings are different. The Land of Legends is within walking distance of the hotel, so a last evening at the park needs no car and can fit in before a night pickup. Leave the packed bags with reception before you walk over, and the car can set off as soon as you are back. For a morning departure the car simply waits at the hotel entrance on the street.

• On a last evening at the theme park before a night flight, settle any extras at reception first, so nothing holds up the car when you get back.
